Koço Tradition

Founded in 1928 by Konstantinos Koço Korontos, a Greek from Imbros, our meyhane has been serving in Moda, across from Moda Pier, for nearly a century. We keep the traditional raki-fish culture alive with fresh seafood and a rich variety of cold and hot mezes. Koço, a favorite of great names in Turkish literature such as Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca, Cemal Süreya, and Arif Damar, is a music-free meyhane (tavern): there is no live music or fasıl, and conversation at the table comes first. Koço seats more than 500 guests, its garden and terrace are open all year round, and it is open every day from 12:00 to midnight. Located on the lower floor of our restaurant, the Aya Ekaterini Holy Spring is a living witness to Istanbul's multicultural heritage.
